What is "ID666"?

    ID666 is a header extension for SPCs introduced by Nitro (author of ZDSPC). It is similar to MP3s' ID3 extension. Both allow to include additional informations like the composer, audio source, comments etc. into the audio files. This extension is also the best way to limit the playing time of mostly looping SNES songs.

Why "extended" ID666?

    The initial ID666 extension was very limited in space which often forced the user to use acronyms which makes names even less recognizable. The extended ID666 format allow to use up to 256 signs for each text field and is easily expandable with new fields, this should be enough for any futur use. Currently SNESAmp and Super Jukebox are supporting the extended ID666 format. Developers and interested readers can read more about the extended ID666 format.
