Ten-Bu

Information

Released in 1992, this was the last Wolfteam album. But not only was this the last, it was also the weirdest. First of all, it wasn't a Toshiba EMI album, as all the last four were; it was a BGM Victor album. Second, it wasn't composed by any of the Wolfteam composers of that time. (Motoi Sakuraba, Masaaki Uno, Yasunori Shiono and Ryota Furuya) No, it was composed by a Japanese New Age band called 135, or ITI-SAN-GO if you prefer.

135 had a contract with BGM Victor, and they had release a deal of albums before this one, and continued to release albums after this one as well. Since 135 was a band, it would be alright to assume that the music of Tenbu was licensed, but it can't be. The album Ten-Bu is called the same as the game, and contains exactly the same compositions, that makes this album a soundtrack for the game, and 135 the hired composers!

Why would Wolfteam hire a band for their game? Tenbu was a Strategy game set in China, unlike the Zan series, which was set in Japan. Some of you might've thought otherwise, but Japanese and Chinese classical are very different from eachother. Motoi Sakuraba had experience with Zan, but.., perhaps he wasn't fit for music with a Chinese mood. The folks at Wolfteam had to find someone with experience with this genre to make the game run, and such people weren't already within the walls of company.

Osamu Satoh, known better as Nobuhito Koise when talking about Telenet, worked as an Executive Producer for BGM Victor. Wolfteam might have contacted Osamu Satoh, asking him to find an apropriate composer, and he found 135.
